In April of this year we were contacted by a member of staff from BT Flex to say that they would like to make a donation to support the activities of Caring Breaks. This money was raised through employee donations from their “dress down” Fridays and other in-house fundraising days. They kindly donated £650 to support our service.

Following on from this the Project Manager met with Kim-eleas Smith of BT Flex, to thank them for the donation and to discuss how they could continue to support the service in other ways. Kim mentioned that through their Corporate Social Responsibility they hoped to have volunteering days were they could be actively involved with Caring Breaks.

A team of managers from BT Flex then attended the allotment to prepare the Garden plot for use. The volunteers painstakingly cleared the overgrown flower beds, dissembled old wooden structures, levelled the soil and shifted 2 tonne of stones!

All volunteers enjoyed the day despite feeling stiff after all the manual work…they haven’t been put off though as another volunteer day is currently being arranged!
