We held our first ever open day at our allotment in Dundonald on Saturday morning last which was attended both by clients and carers.  Our allotment is one of a very large number of allotments owned by Vista, and our event co-incided with their annual Open Day.

Vista laid on a BBQ (which quite a few of us visited!), plus gardening expert Keith Crawford from the BBC Radio Ulster Gardeners Corner programme who was there to answer any gardening questions.

The weather was kind and on our site we had some games and tea, and we even got some of the carers to do a bit of weeding!   We also had Barbara Redmond who is the Health Inprovement Officer with the Belfast Trust, and she showed how to make potato salad and coleslaw using the type of vegetables we grow on the allotment.

All in all it was very informal and casual, and also gave everyone the opportunity to walk around and see what other allotment owners were doing.   All in all a very enjoyable day.
